Splish Splash, Space Saving Bathtub

Pictured is an old foldable bath time that was able to save space but sitting veritcally and resting against a metal frame.
The image depicts how the folding bathtub was stored and folded up against its frame.

This week鈥檚 What鈥檚 New Wednesday features this unique space-saving bathtub. This bathtub came from a mail order catalog, and it is able to fold upwards and sit vertically against its frame. Then, when the tub is needed, it is unfolded and rests horizontally, ready for use. These tubs became increasingly popular as the focus on more frequent bathing and hygiene increased during the late 1900s. This specific tub was purchased by Cornelius Hanson and his wife of Dallas, South Dakota, in 1919. Hanson, a diabetic, used this innovative piece.
