The prized steer is displayed with his awards.
A champion from 1922, this Hereford steer flaunts his ribbons off from his halter. Identified as “Blaney’s Pride” sired by Blaney’s Domino, emerged the Grand Champion and Sweepstakes Steer of a 1922 show. Purchased by Armour & Co for Brown Palace Hotel, he fetched a handsome price of $1.15 per pound. This photo comes to SDAHM from Lawrence H. Riggs’ extensive Hereford cattle-related collection.
