Farmers Signaling for Safety
Farmer gestures that he is about to move left.
Farms and ranches have many dangers. Safety on farms has become a common theme in the agricultural field.
This week鈥檚 Throwback Thursday celebrates farm safety in a photo from May 5, 1954. This man indicates a directional change as he rolls down the road on his tractor. The tractor doesn鈥檛 have turn signals, so the man must show where he intends to move. Taken by extension photographer, Leeland Sudlow, the man is identified as someone from Minor Bros. Farm in Brookings. With over 200,000 nonfatal farm accidents, as well as over 400 deaths, continued farm safety education and efforts can save money, injury time and most importantly, lives.
