Architects draw to understand, to manage and to explain. Architecture is part design, part engineering, part sociology, part management and 100% fueled by developing technologies in spatial and graphical thinking.

Graphic designers interpret cultural and technological trends and engage audiences with dynamic, compelling and informative content through visual communication.

The interior design program seeks to teach students the importance and value of the design process and design thinking, promote the awareness and knowledge of the contributions of the profession to the health, safety and well-being of people in the built environment, and to prepare graduates of the program to succeed as professional interior designers.

Landscape architects excel in addressing social and environmental issues with creative and achievable solutions. Classes in this program include art, design, horticulture, biological sciences, site planning and engineering.

Studio art majors study a variety of art-making methods and techniques that include traditional and contemporary approaches, as well as art history. Students earn BFA degrees leading to careers as professional designers and artists.

This degree is comprised of art and design studio experiences, art history lecture courses and the teacher education sequence of courses. Students study a variety of art-making methods and techniques, as well as meeting the requirements for South Dakota teacher certification.
