As members around the nation watched the 2025 presidential inauguration ceremony, the powerful voices of a Midwestern ensemble filled the air. Among them was Jaime O’Neill, a Huron native and �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts alumnus.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts has been tapped to host the North American Saxophone Alliance Region Three Conference March 7-9. �ձ�av��Ƶ saxophone and jazz lecturer Yiqun Chen is the conference organizer.

Bradley Snyder, �ձ�av��Ƶ’s instructor of low brass, will present a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 3, in Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts will present cultural historian Joseph Horowitz and French classical pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet in a lecture-recital titled “Ravel and Jazz” on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 7:30 p.m. in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts and the School of American and Global Studies are partnering with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra of Sioux Falls to present a forum titled “Music as an Instrument of Diplomacy” on Monday, Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m. in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

�ձ�av��Ƶ will host the In-Service Music Conference on campus Feb. 13-15. The conference will bring music educators from across the state to the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center for a series of workshops and concerts.

Theater lives by the adage “The show must go on.” But when “on” means on the road, that’s another matter, and when it is 336 miles away at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, that’s another matter yet. But that was the case for 28 �ձ�av��Ƶ theater students when they presented at the annual event in Des Moines, Iowa, Jan. 21.

American musician, writer and speaker Dessa will share her inspiration as a multi-disciplinary artist when she delivers the Harding Distinguished Lecture on Jan. 23 at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center. The artist will also share her appreciation for the far-reaching impact of the liberal arts, humanities and social sciences at the 6 p.m. event in Founders Recital Hall on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus.

�ձ�av��Ƶ Theatre and Dance’s fall 2024 production of “Fuddy Meers” by David Lindsay-Abaire has been selected to be presented at the 57th annual Region 5 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival Conference in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 21. To help defray the costs of taking the production to Des Moines, a one-night-only fundraising performance of the show will be presented at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Oscar Larson Theatre in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus.

A Papillion La Vista teacher and �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts graduate has received the Omaha Manilow Music Project Teacher Award. Hiltje Peitz received the award, along with a $10,000 prize, in July.
