The Community Practice Innovation Center brings together faculty, students, researchers and practitioners to lead change within community practice through innovative community engagement and partnerships, research and education and training with a focus on access to care, population health and health outcomes.

The Ethel Austin Martin Program in Nutrition program exercises a multidisciplinary approach to expand human nutrition knowledge through both research projects and educational applications. Active research projects provide ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ faculty and students the opportunity to expand their knowledge base and participate in research.

The Geospatial Sciences Center of Excellence is a joint collaboration between ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ and the U.S. Geological Survey’s Center for Earth Resources Observation and Sciences. It conducts collaborative research on remotely-sensed datasets to study the Earth’s land surface. This center has established ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ as a global center of expertise in geographic information science studies.

The Haarberg 3D Center is a research center funded by the South Dakota Board of Regents with the primary objective of developing an integrated Drug, Disease and Delivery (3D) framework for drug development.

The North Central Sun Grant Center is a regional administrative center that implements the national Sun Grant Initiative for the 10-state North Central region.

South Dakota Water Resources Institute, a federal-state partnership, provides leadership in coordinating the research and training on water resources in South Dakota. The institute focuses on resolving state and regional water problems through research, technology transfer and application.

With six field stations and more than 17,000 acres of land across the state devoted to scientific exploration, the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station is the largest public and privately funded research organization in the state. Since 1887, we have used science to find solutions to pressing problems and identify new opportunities for our state.

The Water and Environmental Engineering Research Center conducts research, education and outreach activities on engineering solutions to water resources and environmental problems.

The center offers scholarships, power technology-oriented tours and power seminars, brings guest speakers to campus and coordinates regional conferences and workshops. Through active participation by its members, the Center for Power Systems Studies provides students numerous opportunities by offering three- and nine-month internship positions.

Established in 2007, South Dakota Wind Application Center is located in Brookings at ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ and is under the direction of Michael Twedt. The SDWAC leads the South Dakota Wind for Schools efforts through technical analysis, classroom and event workshops for K-12 students and data interpretation/download aid to participating schools. Steve Wegman is the Winds for Schools liaison and supports the program via resource development.

The Center of Excellence for Bison Studies was formally launched in September 2020 as a partnership between ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ, the National Bison Association and the National Buffalo Foundation. The Center of Excellence for Bison Studies is headquartered at the ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ West River Research and Extension center in Rapid City, South Dakota.

The Healthcare Simulation Center revolutionizes the way students learn everything from simple skills and tasks to strategies for managing complex health care scenarios. The center is equipped with the latest in human patient simulators and medical devices.

The Population Health Evaluation Center is a service center within the College of Nursing at ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ. The center partners with clients to strengthen the services in public health, well-being and/or education they provide within their communities.

The College of Nursing Native American Nursing Education Center is committed to providing a welcoming and supportive place for students. The center is located at 4300 Cheyenne Boulevard, Box Elder, SD 57719 (Black Hills State University-Rapid City).

The ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ Census Data Center operates as a cooperative venture between the U.S. Census Bureau and ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ. The mission of the center is to assist in accessing census data for effective decision-making. With a focus on South Dakota, the center provides data, in-depth analysis of data, and training to individuals, businesses and governmental agencies.

The ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ Writing Center, located in Hilton M. Briggs Library 103, serves all students enrolled in the university, both graduate and undergraduate. Students can chat about an essay for a composition or history class, a research paper, abstracts for a human development or sociology paper or a job or graduate school application letter — in short, any type of writing that they have concerns about. Consultations take place during any stage of the writing process from determining the ideas, focus and framework to citing sources to figuring out how semicolons work to polishing the style.

The goal of the consulting service is to provide statistical and technological advice to researchers in other areas, so they can independently analyze their data. In addition, we will help researchers identify an appropriate statistical method for their specific data and to understand the statistical analyses and the software which they want to use.
