The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Design is hosting a new alumni gallery exhibit, “Now and Then,” in the Ritz Gallery in Grove Hall on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus. The solo exhibition features the work of art educator Michael Aasness, who is the grades 6-12 art instructor at Sioux Valley School District in Volga.

The South Dakota Art Museum and Brookings Arts Council invite visitors to their final Community Art Day of the year on Saturday, Dec. 7. This free event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Dakota Art Museum, located at 1036 Medary Ave. in Brookings.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts presents the A/B Duo on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ Civic Symphony will deliver a vibrant celebration of classical music with its fall concert, “New Worlds,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

�ձ�av��Ƶ’s School of Performing Arts invites the community to a recital featuring senior music education major Jamee Kattner in a performance of works by Franz Haydn, Amy Beach, Leonard Bernstein and Jerry Bock, among others.

�ձ�av��Ƶ studio art senior Emma Hoff of Gillette, Wyoming, will display her Bachelor of Fine Arts thesis exhibition on campus from Nov. 11-22.

Two �ձ�av��Ƶ students in the landscape architecture program competed in an international competition in Istanbul, Turkey. Jake Pytleski and Miranda Peck represented the �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Design in the International Federation of Landscape Architects conference Sept. 4-6. Pytleski’s team placed third in the conference competition.

Curtis Chin, a critically acclaimed Chinese American writer, producer and director, will be on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus Thursday, Oct. 24, to screen his documentary films and to discuss his award-winning memoir.

Rocky Dailey, professor in �ձ�av��Ƶ’s School of Communication and Journalism, will have parts three and four of his documentary series, “Voices of the Prairie: A History of Broadcasting in South Dakota,” shown on South Dakota Public Broadcasting.

A new art exhibition that explores the intersection of science, art and intuition will open Thursday, Oct. 24, in Lincoln Hall, located on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus.
