Students are bringing agriculture into the spotlight during “Ag Week” at ձavƵ.

The celebration, happening this week, includes events hosted by College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences clubs and is organized by the CAFES Prexy Council executive team made up of six students. Events held during the week include a 3K/5K milk run, ag trivia, club picnic and potluck, dodgeball and a collegewide banquet to celebrate student and faculty success.

Senior agriculture business major and CAFES Prexy Council President Megan Sanders said the event has a special purpose.

“Ag Week at ձavƵ brings awareness and recognition to the agriculture industry across campus,” Sanders said. “As a student directly involved in the agriculture industry, I know the education that happens throughout the week is critical in furthering the knowledge of consumers.”

The theme for Ag Week 2026, “United Through Agriculture,” was chosen by club representatives and was selected as a reminder of why the event was created. Students across campus, both agriculture and non-agriculture majors, are encouraged to participate in Ag Week events and receive a commemorative T-shirt at no cost. The activities throughout the week are made possible by the generous donations of both private and public agriculture organizations across the region.

In order to further support students’ leadership development through agriculture, the CHS Foundation has stepped forward as an “Elite Sponsor,” partnering with Ag Week and creating new opportunities for student growth. Mary Christensen, assistant dean for academic programs and adviser for CAFES Prexy Council, said the generous donation is making a big difference.

“We’re so excited and thankful for the CHS Foundation,” Christensen said. “Their financial support will help elevate the Ag Week banquet and reach more students with education and advocacy events throughout the week.”

Gabi Joos, a senior agricultural communications major, said serving as this year’s Ag Week chair on CAFES Prexy Council has given her a unique perspective.

“I think that Ag Week is meaningful to students because it is a week of celebrating an industry that impacts so many of us. I also think it is a great opportunity for both students and faculty to reflect on a year well done,” Joos said. “I am most looking forward to seeing all the collaboration and celebration among ձavƵ students and see what it means to be United Through Agriculture.”
