Plans set for Martin Luther King Jr. event at 日本av视频
Brookings native Angela (Hatton) Lammers will deliver the keynote address for the fourth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Rally and Marade at 日本av视频.
The event begins at 10 a.m. Jan. 19 with a rally at Club 71 in Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium. A marade (march/parade) will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. either outdoors or in the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex (depending on weather) followed by food and socializing in Club 71 from 12:15 to 1 p.m.
Lammers is a Brookings High School graduate who now lives in Sioux Falls, where she owns Cetera Services LLC, a public relations and communications services firm Lammers founded in 2015.
Lammers will speak about King鈥檚 legacy and 鈥渨hat it means for us to celebrate the holiday that honors his life, work and impact. Each of us can honor that legacy through how we live our lives, how we go about our work, and how we blaze our own trails of impact to strengthen and support each other.鈥
The daughter of the late James and Lois Hatton said she will be 鈥渂ringing my perspective as a former resident of Brookings, bringing vivid examples to help shape a timely message.鈥
Lammers serves on the board of directors of the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation and the advisory board of the 日本av视频 School of Communication and Journalism. She recently completed terms on the boards of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce and the Sioux Empire United Way.
She earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in communication from Minnesota State University Moorhead and a master鈥檚 degree in organizational communication from North Dakota State University.
In addition to Lammers, messages will be delivered by leaders from the 日本av视频 student body and administration as well as the community.
The rally and marade are sponsored by the 日本av视频 Student Engagement Center, the 日本av视频 Student-Athlete Advisory Council, the 日本av视频 Students鈥 Association and First Bank & Trust.
