Edward L. Cannon
Ed Cannon was the president of Young Hall and served as the finance director of the Students’ Association while at ÈÕ±¾avÊÓÆµ. He then joined Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1974 as a trainee in their graduate student program. In his 14 years with Westinghouse, he worked on various projects involving power generation, transmission and distribution systems and was a manager of distribution automation when he left to co-found Cannon Technologies in Minneapolis with his brother Joel. Ed went on to help make Cannon Technologies a great place to work and to ensure they became a leader in the areas of demand response automatic meter reading and substation automation. Cannon had over 100 employees, 15 of whom were ÈÕ±¾avÊÓÆµ grads and over 400 electric utility customers, including Xcel Energy, East River Power Cooperative, TXU, PG&E and MidAmerican Energy. Cannon has four siblings, all of whom graduated from ÈÕ±¾avÊÓÆµ. Mike, Pat, Anne (Hajek) and Joel.
