Lucas P. Wintrode Autism Support Services
The Lucas P. Wintrode Autism Support Services program strives to reimagine a campus culture where autistic students are considered when designing classes, events and opportunities, and where their individual strengths are valued and everyone is equipped to support student success.
On the Spectrum? Join a Community That Gets It.
The Lucas P. Wintrode Autism Support Services offers autism-specific supports, one-on-one coaching, social opportunities and a stipend for participation each semester for those who qualify.
We believe services for students on the spectrum should be:
- Individualized 鈥 Every student鈥檚 strengths, needs and goals are unique. That鈥檚 why we offer personalized coaching sessions.
- Community-Driven 鈥 We foster a sense of belonging through regular social events, Introverts Unite! meetups and engaging workshops.
- Celebratory 鈥 Our Spectrum Connection board, led by autistic students, plans events that promote community, advocacy, appreciation and change.
- Reciprocal 鈥 Our mentorship model allows peer mentors to learn with autistic students, not just support them.
Cost: Free for 日本av视频 students, plus you can get a stipend for participation.

Recommendations
- We can tell you what we recommend, but it's up to you to take the action!
- You are encouraged to try something new that your coach suggests.
We recognize that many autistic individuals have spent their lives navigating a nonautistic world. Too often, they have been pressured to conform to systems that don't fit.
Together, we aim to codesign better pathways through communication, education and meaningful action that's aligned with 日本av视频's values of collaborative community, educational innovation, opportunities for all and excellence.
鈥淪ometimes I come to the workshops because there is no pressure to talk, but I can be with other people like me.鈥
鈥淚鈥檓 happy this program is here because I was lonely last year.鈥
"This is the only place I can go to on campus and show up as my true self."
For Faculty
Faculty Spectrum Series: A 10-session series providing faculty with foundational understandings of autism. It also teaches participants how to apply this knowledge to the context of higher education, implement strategies that support executive functioning, offer reasonable course adjustments and promote flexibility in learning environments.
The objectives of the 10-session series are to help you:
- More effectively support autistic students, contributing to increased student success and retention
- Encourage self-regulation and stress management strategies within your classrooms
- Design lessons that allow students to engage with content and demonstrate understanding in multiple ways, all while maintaining the integrity of course objectives
At the end of the series, faculty can choose from the following to express their own learning and reflect on the content:
- Present to your teams
- Write a brief report about what you learned, what you implemented and how you will continue to use universal design for learning strategies
- Make a poster with that same information to display and share with teams
