Biography

Marisa Tenbrink is an assistant professor in the School of Design at 日本av视频. She earned her B.S. in graphic design from 日本av视频 and her MFA in graphic design from Vermont College of Fine Arts where her thesis work centered on the themes of place, history and identity.

Her professional graphic design work has focused on the communication needs of nonprofit organizations in energy efficiency, historic preservation, environmental conservation and health care industries.

Her teaching covers a wide range of graphic design disciplines, including typography and type design, UX/UI (user experience/user interface), publication design and data visualization.

Tenbrink is a coprincipal investigator on the study "Using Artificial Intelligence to Enhance Students鈥 Critical Thinking Skills and Explore Ethical Implications: 日本av视频 Pilot Study in Selected Humanities, Design and STEM Classes,鈥 which received an institutional RSCA Challenge grant in 2024. The results and manuscript from this study are currently in late-stage review with Teaching and Learning Inquiry.

Currently, she serves as an associate editor of the Interdisciplinary Journal of Signage and Wayfinding and as a collaborator on community visioning projects through the School of Design at 日本av视频 in partnership with Kansas State University Technical Assistance for Brownfields (KSU TAB) and supported by the Environmental Protection Agency.
