It was a celebration so large that �ձ�av��Ƶ’s College of Nursing had to find a new, bigger venue. The fall 2025 Rapid City pinning and hooding ceremony needed more space to accommodate the entire nursing cohort and family and friends.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ Civic Symphony will present its first program of the spring semester, titled “Four Centuries of Symphony.” The concert is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, and will be held in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

�ձ�av��Ƶ’s Department of Animal Science has been named the 2025 North American Limousin Foundation Promoter of the Year following its collaborative efforts in conducting a multiyear beef cattle research study.

Longtime �ձ�av��Ƶ administrator and faculty member Greg Heiberger has been named dean of the Van D. and Barbara B. Fishback Honors College following a national search.

Mount Rushmore. The Badlands. Bison. Three things that come to mind when thinking of South Dakota scenery. Of the 400,000 bison that currently live in North America, around 10% — nearly 40,000 — roam the state’s landscape. It makes sense then that the epicenter of bison research would also be here, where it can have the biggest impact.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts will host the In-Service Music Conference Feb. 12-14.

Like building any bridge, forming a stronger connection between Brookings and Sioux Falls takes time and investment. �ձ�av��Ƶ committed both — and now is building on success that benefits each community.

Through a partnership with Avera Health, �ձ�av��Ƶ's College of Nursing is working to address the rural nursing workforce shortage.

Seventy miles separate Brookings, home of �ձ�av��Ƶ, and Milbank, a community of 3,500 people to the north. The miles melt away, however, when looking at the impact the school has had on the town and the town has had on the school.

Regionally and nationwide, �ձ�av��Ƶ quietly has positioned itself as a leader in integrating artificial intelligence in higher education.
