The public is invited to “An Evening with Jeffrey Rosen,” set for 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the Larson Memorial Concert Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus. Rosen, a noted legal scholar, is president and CEO of the National Constitution Center and a professor of law at the George Washington University Law School. At �ձ�av��Ƶ, he will present “The History and Future of the American Idea.”

�ձ�av��Ƶ received the Gladys Pyle Award for efforts in young voter registration from South Dakota Secretary of State Monae Johnson on Sept. 30. The award reflects voter registration efforts by many on campus including the School of American and Global Studies, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Accessibility and the Diversity in Athletics Council.

Mezzo-soprano Emily Wood Toronto will present a faculty recital on Monday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Founders Recital Hall in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus.

Former �ձ�av��Ƶ football player and entrepreneurial studies major Tommy Hopp will return to campus Oct. 2 for the Ness School of Management and Economics’ 2024 Emerging Entrepreneur in Residence program.

�ձ�av��Ƶ Theatre and Dance will kick off its 2024-25 season with the wonky comedy “Fuddy Meers.”

The South Dakota Art Museum at �ձ�av��Ƶ will celebrate the immersive exhibition of “Anila Quayyum Agha: Shadows and Splendor” with a day of programming on Saturday, Sept. 28. Agha will host a fine arts workshop on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (registration required) and a free, public reception and artist talk from 5-7 p.m.

Jackrabbits in all 50 states and across 15 countries united to tackle historic philanthropy on Sept. 5 during One Day for STATE.

The South Dakota Cattlemen’s Foundation was honored recently as the 2024 recipient of the �ձ�av��Ƶ Friend of the Beef Industry award for its contributions to the South Dakota beef industry.

The fall semester at �ձ�av��Ƶ brings three things without fail: the return of Jackrabbits to Brookings, opportunities for campus and community connections, and the celebration of One Day for STATE. The �ձ�av��Ƶ Foundation will host the university’s eighth annual giving day on Thursday, Sept. 5. The 24-hour campaign invites Jackrabbits everywhere to join together in celebration of �ձ�av��Ƶ and the incredible impact of philanthropic giving.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts presents Sam Gowen in “Music of the Night,” a recital for horn, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Founders Recital Hall.
