The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra will present a rare and immersive cinematic experience as the finale of this year’s �ձ�av��Ƶ Chamber Music Series.

An addition to �ձ�av��Ƶ’s Swine Education and Research Facility has completed the final round of legislative approval. House Bill 1118, approving the design and construction for an expansion to the university’s existing swine wean-to-finish facility was signed into law Tuesday afternoon by Gov. Larry Rhoden.

Presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jon Meacham headlines this year’s Daschle Dialogues on April 7 on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus. This year’s event is being held in First Bank & Trust Arena.

In a cultural moment that would typically require travel to Chicago, New York or Boston, two internationally celebrated ensembles will take the stage in Brookings — just minutes from home for regional audiences.

The annual �ձ�av��Ƶ Celebration of Faculty Excellence recognized more than two dozen faculty members, researchers and scholars Tuesday. The event honors faculty members in the university's colleges for outstanding research, teaching and service.

It was a celebration so large that �ձ�av��Ƶ’s College of Nursing had to find a new, bigger venue. The fall 2025 Rapid City pinning and hooding ceremony needed more space to accommodate the entire nursing cohort and family and friends.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ Civic Symphony will present its first program of the spring semester, titled “Four Centuries of Symphony.” The concert is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, and will be held in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

This is the Year of the Fire Horse, according to the Chinese zodiac, which means it’s the perfect time for the 2026 Harding Distinguished Lecture. Archeologist and author William Taylor will present “Horses and the Human Story in South Dakota and the American West: New Perspectives from the Ancient World.”

�ձ�av��Ƶ’s University Chamber Music Series continues its 2025-26 season with a special performance by the internationally acclaimed wind quintet Imani Winds at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, in the Founders Recital Hall at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The Child and Family Resource Network at �ձ�av��Ƶ is hosting its next “Common-Sense Parenting” class series starting Feb. 17.
