ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ’s Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering will soon offer a bachelor’s degree in concrete industry management. The degree announcement comes after the CIM National Steering Committee and the North Central Region patrons selected ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ after an approximate six-month selection process.

ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ senior Hattie Seten became the university's second recipient of the Rhodes scholarship, announced Saturday. ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ's first Rhodes scholar, Maj. Gen. Alan A. Nord ’52, earned a master’s degree in general chemistry from Oxford.

Joshua Westwick ’01/M.S. ’03, associate director of ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ’s School of Communication and Journalism, recently received the Don Yoder Distinguished Faculty Award at the National Communication Association’s annual Basic Course Division business meeting.

Cody Christensen, an associate professor at ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ, received the V.L. Laursen Award at the University Aviation Association’s 73rd Annual Education Conference held virtually in October. Christensen, who has led the ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ aviation program since 2014, is the first one from ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ to receive an award from the UAA.

Nicholas Uilk, an instructor in ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ’s Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, has been named a recipient of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities national teaching awards in recognizing excellence in agricultural sciences teaching and student engagement.

ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ has been named to The Princeton Review’s 2021 Guide to Green Schools list. According to The Princeton Review, the schools on the list share superb sustainability practices, a strong foundation in sustainability education and a healthy quality of life for students on campus.

ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ associate professor Robert McTaggart was selected as the Society of Physics Students’ Outstanding Chapter Advisor for 2019-20. According to SPS, the Outstanding SPS Chapter Advisor Award is the most prestigious SPS award.

ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ, in partnership with Sinte Gleska University, has received $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the Igluwiyeya (Prepare oneself): Pathways from Preparation to Graduation at Land-Grant Institutions. Igluwiyeya is Lakota for prepare oneself.

ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ professor Sanjeev Anand is not resting on his laurels and has many more research ideas underway. The IDFA is the sponsor of this ADSA award, which Anand said is the highest research award given in the discipline. Anand was also recognized for his excellence in the classroom with the 2018 IDFA Teaching Award.

Valeriah Big Eagle, a member of the ÈÕ±¾avÊÓƵ College of Nursing, has been chosen as one of 24 recipients for a prestigious Bush fellowship by the St. Paul, Minnesota-based foundation.
