The South Dakota Art Museum at �ձ�av��Ƶ will open its newest exhibition, “Signe Stuart: Events in Time and Space,” with a free public reception and artist talk from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21.

After nearly two years of construction, the POET Bioproducts Center has officially opened its doors to the region's leading bioprocessing scientists. The new laboratory, located in the Research Park at �ձ�av��Ƶ, will bring researchers from �ձ�av��Ƶ and South Dakota Mines together with industry partners to scale up innovative biotechnologies and varying South Dakota's economy.

�ձ�av��Ƶ will begin a four-year program to improve perinatal health outcomes through the implementation of Alliance for Innovation and Maternal Health patient safety bundles at hospitals and birthing centers across South Dakota.

Farmers across the United States will be able to monitor their crops in real time, thanks to a novel algorithm from researchers in �ձ�av��Ƶ's Geospatial Sciences Center of Excellence.

�ձ�av��Ƶ's world-renowned Image Processing Lab was recognized by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration during the 2022 Robert H. Goddard Awards, held earlier this year.

Through a nearly $100,000 grant, the National Science Foundation has positioned �ձ�av��Ƶ to help improve the nation's research enterprise. One of the NSF’s primary goals is to increase the United States' ability to conduct high-quality, impactful research.

Over the past two decades, the United States has been importing more and more avocados each year, underlining a growing obsession with the nutrient-dense fruit. Simultaneously, the U.S. and the rest of the world have been dealing with a growing environmental crisis spurred on by an overreliance on plastic. Could avocados — specifically avocado peels — provide a potential solution?

�ձ�av��Ƶ engineering students used down-to-earth knowledge to design an out-of-this-world lunar transport vehicle which won them a NASA-sponsored contest. The �ձ�av��Ƶ team was one of 15 teams selected as a finalist in NASA’S Revolutionary Aerospace Systems Concepts – Academic Linkage (RASC-AL) competition.

The South Dakota Art Museum at �ձ�av��Ƶ (�ձ�av��Ƶ) celebrates the opening of the highly anticipated Dakota Modern: The Art of Oscar Howe with free festivities for all ages, from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on June 10.

Seven members of the professional staff at �ձ�av��Ƶ have been honored for their quality work. The recipients were honored at the �ձ�av��Ƶ Professional Staff Advisory Council annual meeting in mid-May.
