PItch Day at �ձ�av��Ƶ, an opportunity for faculty members to share their entrepreneurial ideas, was revived Nov. 1 after being inactive for a number of years. The current effort is the vision of the �ձ�av��Ƶ Division of Research and Economic Development and the Research Office in the Jerome J. Lohr College of Engineering. It featured six presenters — four from engineering, one from the College of Natural Sciences and one from the School of Psychology, Sociology and Rural Studies. Rajesh Kavasseri, associate dean for research in the Lohr College of Engineering, served as moderator. He said the presentations at the Research Park at �ձ�av��Ƶ are expected to continue on a quarterly basis.

The South Dakota Art Museum and Brookings Arts Council invite visitors to their final Community Art Day of the year on Saturday, Dec. 7. This free event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the South Dakota Art Museum, located at 1036 Medary Ave. in Brookings.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts presents the A/B Duo on Monday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ Civic Symphony will deliver a vibrant celebration of classical music with its fall concert, “New Worlds,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center.

�ձ�av��Ƶ’s School of Performing Arts invites the community to a recital featuring senior music education major Jamee Kattner in a performance of works by Franz Haydn, Amy Beach, Leonard Bernstein and Jerry Bock, among others.

Nearly 100 �ձ�av��Ƶ undergraduate students will showcase their ag industry internship experiences at Precision Connect ’24, Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Raven Precision Agriculture Center. This is the fourth annual Precision Connect event, started in conjunction with the 2021 opening of the center.

�ձ�av��Ƶ studio art senior Emma Hoff of Gillette, Wyoming, will display her Bachelor of Fine Arts thesis exhibition on campus from Nov. 11-22.

With loud enthusiasm often reserved for athletic events, students, faculty and staff from �ձ�av��Ƶ’s agricultural programs showed up in full force to welcome a live television taping of “AgDay College Roadshow” Oct. 30 on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus.

The South Dakota Art Museum at �ձ�av��Ƶ will celebrate the immersive exhibition of huge blown glass ears of corn, “Primordial Shift: The Art of Michael Meilahn,” with a free public reception and panel discussion from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 27.

By the narrowest of margins — two points out of more than 2,000 — the �ձ�av��Ƶ Quarter Scale Tractor Team came up just short of winning its third consecutive national title. Competing at the 27th annual International Quarter-Scale Tractor Student Design Competition at the Expo Gardens Fairgrounds in Peoria, Illinois, the �ձ�av��Ƶ team placed third out of 21 teams.
