Mezzo-soprano Emily Wood Toronto will present a faculty recital on Monday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Founders Recital Hall in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus.

�ձ�av��Ƶ Theatre and Dance will kick off its 2024-25 season with the wonky comedy “Fuddy Meers.”

The South Dakota Art Museum at �ձ�av��Ƶ will celebrate the immersive exhibition of “Anila Quayyum Agha: Shadows and Splendor” with a day of programming on Saturday, Sept. 28. Agha will host a fine arts workshop on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (registration required) and a free, public reception and artist talk from 5-7 p.m.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts presents Sam Gowen in “Music of the Night,” a recital for horn, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in the Oscar Larson Performing Arts Center’s Founders Recital Hall.

Laura Diddle, the Paul E. and Doris J. Moriarty Endowed Professor of Choral Activities in the �ձ�av��Ƶ School of Performing Arts, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the South Dakota American Choral Directors Association. Shawn Stemsrud, a 2022 �ձ�av��Ƶ graduate, received the association's Encore Award, as did 2002 �ձ�av��Ƶ alum Janice Gilbert.

The South Dakota Art Museum at �ձ�av��Ƶ has again achieved accreditation by the American Alliance of Museums, the highest national recognition afforded to the nation’s museums.

Adam Devlin, a recent master’s graduate in the �ձ�av��Ƶ Department of Agronomy, Horticulture and Plant Science, worked on a collaborative project with faculty in the School of Design to bring awareness to the hardships of South Dakota farmers and the effects of soil composition in various subjects.

The South Dakota Art Museum at �ձ�av��Ƶ will celebrate the immersive exhibition of huge blown glass ears of corn, “Primordial Shift: The Art of Michael Meilahn,” with a free public reception and panel discussion from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 27.

David C. Earnest, the Odeen-Swanson Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Political Science at the University of South Dakota, has been named dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at �ձ�av��Ƶ. Earnest was selected following a national search and will begin working on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus July 8.

The South Dakota Art Museum at �ձ�av��Ƶ will open its newest exhibition, “Termespheres: Without Beginning or End,” with a free public reception and artist talk from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, March 23. Artist Dick Termes will speak at 6 p.m., discussing the spherical paintings in this exhibition, known as Termespheres, and his process for creating them.
