�ձ�av��Ƶ held its ninth annual Swine Day at Club 71 in Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium on Nov. 4. Organized by university swine research and extension personnel, the daylong event offered attendees a full day of learning and connection.

As part of a tradition that is uniquely South Dakota, the 2025 Dean’s Pheasant Hunt took place last week. The annual event highlights the relationship between agriculture and conservation, two topics important to the �ձ�av��Ƶ College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, but also two of the main contributors to the South Dakota economy.

The �ձ�av��Ƶ Soil Judging Team made an impressive showing at the recent National Collegiate Soil Judging Region 5 competition, garnering first-place awards in both the team and individual categories. Helping to bring home the team’s overall first-place score was individual top winner Luke Desmith, a senior agronomy major from Walnut Grove, Minnesota.

�ձ�av��Ƶ researcher Swas Kaushal is part of a new generation of scientists blending technology and agriculture — and his work is gaining global attention through two major travel awards.

With loud enthusiasm often reserved for athletic events, students, faculty and staff from �ձ�av��Ƶ’s agricultural programs showed up in full force to welcome a television taping of RFD-TV’s “AgDay College Roadshow” on the �ձ�av��Ƶ campus Oct. 22.

More than 70 �ձ�av��Ƶ undergraduate students will showcase their agriculture industry internship experiences at Precision Connect ’25 Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Raven Precision Agriculture Center.

Twenty �ձ�av��Ƶ Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine students were honored at the annual Blue Coat Ceremony on Oct. 4. The first-year students were each presented with a personalized blue Carhartt work coat sponsored by a regional veterinarian to welcome them into the veterinary profession, and to South Dakota.

Allison Arp, the new marketing and communications director for �ձ�av��Ƶ’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences, has been accepted into the 13th class of the South Dakota Agricultural and Rural Leadership program.

Students, researchers and industry professionals from around the country gathered at �ձ�av��Ƶ on Oct. 14 for the 2025 South Dakota Student Water Conference. The daylong event was designed to empower the next generation of water research professionals.
