Kendra Kattelmann
Distinguished Professor Emerita of Nutrition and Dietetics
Biography
Dr. Kendra Kattelmann is a registered dietitian, Distinguished Professor Emerita and former department head in health and nutritional sciences.
Kattelmann maintains an active research program that focuses on prevention of excessive weight gain in young adults through healthful dietary choices and environmental support. She also has work focusing on prevention of Type 2 diabetes through traditional dietary patterns of the Native American.
Kattelmann has been funded nationally by National Institutes of Health and National Institute of Food and Agriculture and is currently engaged in several projects with NC1193 Multistate Team Healthy Campus Consortium investigators collaborating with Cooperative Extension partners for obesity prevention of young adults and children. Additionally, her work focuses on supporting public policy to support healthful environment that is “making the healthy choice the easy choice.” She is a past president of the Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior.
