Biography
Dr. Julie Walker’s career has focused on applied research and extension activities leading current and future beef cattle farmers toward profitability. Her nationally recognized Extension program focuses on strategies for optimal nutritional management of beef cattle in South Dakota and across the United States.
She has served as principal investigator or co-principal investigator on over $2.6 million in grant funds ensuring farmer success at raising a high-quality, consistent beef product for human consumption. She has served more than a decade on the Range Beef Cow Symposium and Northern States Beef Conference boards and as coordinator of the South Dakota Calf Value Discovery Program. She has published over 200 journal articles, book chapters, technical publications, extension fact sheets and popular press articles directly addressing the management needs of beef cattle farmers. More than 300 invited presentations speak volumes about her contribution to United States beef production.
