Andrew Robinette
Professor of Music
Biography
Dr. Andrew Robinette is a professor of music in the School of Performing Arts at 日本av视频. He teaches conducting, choral methods, applied voice, voice methods and conducts the 日本av视频 Statesmen.
Robinette has taught at the collegiate level since 2003. He previously served on the faculties of Temple University and Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg and as the choir director at Philadelphia University. In addition to his collegiate teaching experience, Robinette previously taught at West Catholic High School and Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia.
An active scholar and performer, Robinette has published his research in several leading journals, including The Choral Journal, The Choral Scholar and American Choral Review, Choral Canada鈥檚 Anacrusis Journal, and the NACWPI Journal. He has also served on the editorial board for The Choral Scholar and American Choral Review since 2014, including a term as the associate editor for submissions.
He regularly presents his research at state, regional, national and international conferences. National conference invitations include presentations for the National Collegiate Choral Organization, American Choral Directors Association, Music Teachers National Association and the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors.
Performance highlights include a lecture recital on Meyerbeer鈥檚 "Hirtenlied" at the national conference for the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors and conducting a performance of Davies' "A Short Requiem" in a lecture recital at the international conference for the Space Between Society.
Under his direction, the 日本av视频 Statesmen has toured nationally and internationally and performed concert sessions at multiple state conferences, including the South Dakota American Choral Directors Association in 2015 and 2024. In both 2015 and 2019, the Statesmen were invited to be a featured concert at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg.
A sought-after clinician and guest conductor, Robinette has worked with choirs across the country in Alaska, South Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Highlights include conducting the Alaska Region V Honor Festival and the South Dakota Music Education Association's Freshmen Festival.
Robinette is currently the church and community choir repertoire and resource chair for the South Dakota American Choral Directors Association. Previously, he served as the repertoire and resource chair for Men鈥檚 Choruses for the Northcentral Division of the American Choral Directors Association and as the president of the South Dakota Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
